READY2MASTER
Monday night, I found myself watching clips of David Lynch movies with my wife and sister-in-law. I don't ever plan to make movies and I don't make art that's in his zone, but Lynch is a profoundly inspirational artist to me. His intuitive approach narrative to visual composition to everything, really, feels liberatory for me.
Historically, my instinct when making anything was to come correct with a fully-formed essay in me about why I made this choice here and so on, and sometimes when the essay didn't come, neither did the choice, and I'd find myself locked and unmoving. Learning to move, trusting my ears, my body, my heart, has been a long process, honestly, but I'm getting farther along.
Last night I officially finished mixing a new album I'm calling Lucky and Blessed and dumped all the tracks in a Dropbox folder called READY2MASTER. I'm very, very excited about this collection of tracks. I think they're some of my strongest mixes and sounds ever. I spent hours on hours adjusting every little detail in these tracks, not in service of an essay-backed thesis, but just chasing down the right series of sounds.
I think now they can stand for themselves. Release details soon.
